THE BRIEF

UBC’s School of Biomedical Engineering wanted a futuristic look to their strategic plan, which outlines their plan for the future of the department as an interdisciplinary hub incorporating the faculties of Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, and Applied Science with designs to become an international leader in the next wave of medical technology. The plan needed to feel exciting and cutting edge, but still remain within the UBC brand.

THE SOLUTION

The gridded structure of the plan allows for an adaptable and dynamic layout that reflects the cutting edge collaborative model of the School of Biomedical Engineering. Bold hits of UBC’s brand blues give the document a technical, futuristic feel. Graphs, infographics, tables and icons have a fluid, organic structure reminiscent of cells and connective tissues, as well as a structural aspect that references flowcharts and technical drawings. Dynamic layouts convey the excitement for the future of the department and for the field of medical technology as a whole.
